The two maps illustrate the significant development of the village of Chorleywood over a period of 126 years, from 1868 to 1994.

Overall, Chorleywood experienced substantial growth and modernization. The most noticeable changes were the introduction of a railway line and the vast expansion of residential areas, which completely transformed the village from a small settlement into a much larger town.

Looking at the details, one of the most significant additions was the construction of a railway line, which passed through the center of the area in 1994. This railway did not exist in 1868. Accompanying this development, several new roads were also built, particularly in the southern part of the map, to support the increased population. In 1868, Chorleywood was a relatively small village with two main roads crossing it. By 1994, the transport infrastructure had become much more extensive.

Another major change was the dramatic increase in housing. The original small residential area located in the center of the 1868 map was significantly expanded in all directions by 1994. The area labeled 'Chorleywood Park & Golf Course' in the southwest, which was presumably open land before, was also developed.
